WHO WE ARE
Kumar Ashutosh Institution (Main) Boys’ a Government Sponsored School stands as a land mark of Centre of Excellence and auspicious citadel of galaxy of stars and luminaries during the period of last 88 years.
The School was officially founded and recognised by the Government under the British rule in 1933. Prior to that a primary school was organised by some rebel patriots in order to cater education amongst the children. The school was named as ‘Prokriti vidyalaya’.
Gradually, the school became popular and one benevolent zaminder Late Satish Chandra Ghosh came forward to develop and upgrade the School. Thereafter, Raja Biswanath Roy
reconstructed and re-established the school to perpetuate the memory of his maternal uncle and named it as ‘Kumar Ashutosh Institution’. An erudite scholar Late Kuloda Prosad Lahiri became the Headmaster of the school and Late Biswanath Roy became the Secretary of the school. In 1952 the School was shifted to 10/1, Dum Dum Road, Kolkata-30.In the year 2004 the foundation of the new building was laid at 8E, DumDum Road, Kolkata -30 with the assiduous effort and diligent zeal of the Head master Sri Kartick Chandra Manna .On 4th March 2006 the new school building was inaugurated for the students with his relentless endeavour and co-operation of everyone concerned .It was his earnest perseverance that introduced several new subjects in the higher Secondary section which is co-educational . In the academic session 2006-2007 Computer training centre was introduced for each class .
Computer Science and Computer Application were introduced as subjects in Higher secondary section. V.T.C course was approved by the Department of Vocational Training, Govt. of West Bengal . Business-Commerce was also introduced at the same time.
Any person having passed the Madhyamik Examination may join the course , provided he or she is within 35 years of age. Sarva Siksha Mission, Kolkata and Department of Education, Govt of West Bengal alloted fund in this respect.Laboratories for Geography, Life Science and Physical Science were introduced under and with the co-operation of Learning Enhancement Programme under Sarva Siksha Mission, West Bengal. Students of different schools in the vicinity will get the chance of using these Laboratories.
In the year 2011 the Institution ushered in a new era of peerless upliftment in every aspect under the aegis of Dr.Santanu Sen, Secretary of the School Managing Committee. Student strength increased to a great extent. Academic excellence reached the pinnacle. His interminable strive bestowed on the school perhaps the most precious boon- the solar panel enabling the school to reduce the electricity bill to a great extent . His tenure as the Secretary of the school managing committee has so far been at its zenith.
Our school was recognised, as ‘Govt. Sponsored school’ by the Department of Education, Government of West Bengal on 30.09.2013.
A Boarding school was introduced for the students from the District of Kolkata by Sarva Siksha Mission in the month of September, 2016.
We have taken solemn vow to proceed further with earnest co-operation, sincere help and wise advice of the teachers , non-teaching staff, the guardians and people interested in education .
